This dataset is related to a project I’m currently undertaking related to the first class of students at the North Georgia Agricultural College, today known as the University of North Georgia, and comparing their surnames to the rolls of armies for the Confederacy. I will update this dataset as time goes forward as it is presently incomplete.

Today I examined a dataset of Black population changes in large cities through census records between 1910 and 1970. Both datasets show contrasting messages despite taking place just a few decades apart. This graph is of the dataset examining percentage of change between 1910 to 1940. Many questions can now be asked with this published dataset, some of which I’d like to explore myself. The oldest passenger aboard the Titanic was Mr. Algernon Henry Wilson…
William P. Price is the founder of the University of North Georgia, then called North Georgia Agricultural College. He has long been considered for his service to education to the North Georgia area, but his actual service record has been more checkered than originally let on. Price served on the Georgia House of Representatives Committee…

Many of these articles involve events that happen around the state, but some of them involve incidents that take place from far places with slight connections. For example, one of the articles references an alleged Pennsylvanian Black serial…
While Black populations in cities across the South declined during the Great Migration as Black laborers fled a Southern life marked by significant racial oppression, Atlanta’s Black population remained stable and even grew during this period because of a developed sense of Black community through Auburn Avenue and the resistance of racial tension in household…
